Purple Haze vs. Man Rockets on January 21

CALGARY, Alberta (CAHL) – The 10th-year Purple Haze (since 2014) jousted with the 2021-2022 CAHL Cup Champions, the third-year Man Rockets (since 2021).

Joe Clarke established an early 1-0 Purple Haze lead with the assistance of James Lytle.

With 40 seconds displayed on the clock, Branden Satchwell sent in Jay Labelle, who fired in the equalizer for the Man Rockets to enter the first intermission tied at 1-1.

The rest served both offences well as they jumped back out on the ice with a vengeance and then amassed a collective nine-score eruption with five special teams goals, including three power play markers and two shorthanders.

Joe Clarke, who scored twice on the man advantage to complete a hat trick, the captain, Brendan Bagley, and Marc Fortin, who notched a shorthanded goal, were the marksmen of the Purple Haze.

The Man Rockets' firepower was unleashed by Jordan Hughes, who scored while on a penalty kill, Riley Boothby, Jay Labelle, who fired in a pair of goals and is a Jr. B Cochrane Generals' alumnus, and Taylor Irvin.

Joshua Dees, James Lytle, Brendan Bagley, Kelly Bagley, Marc Fortin, Scott Kohn, and Chad Clarke provided the precision passing for the Purple Haze.

Branden Satchwell, Landon Bergh, who is a Jr. B Cochrane Generals' alumnus, Darren Schmautz, who is also an alumnus of the Jr. B Cochrane Generals; and Jordan Hughes were the Man Rockets' playmakers.

After the dust settled, the Man Rockets owned a 6-5 edge.

The sharpshooter, Darren Schmautz, went on a special operations mission with the support of his brothers-in-arms, Jay Labelle and Taylor Irvin, and eliminated the enemy target on the man advantage in the final period to capture a 7-5 Man Rockets' triumph.

Jay Labelle was the first star with an excellent four-point, hat trick performance for the Man Rockets. He spoke about their victory and credited his teammates, saying, "Players around me. They made it all possible."

On being the first star and the upcoming playoffs, Jay Labelle said, "It feels great. It feels good. Oh, we're going to win it all again."

The Purple Haze's Joe Clarke achieved a top-flight hat trick and was the second star.

Landon Bergh was the third star as he accumulated a tremendous total of four assists for the Man Rockets.

Darren Schmautz racked up a major three-point collection for the Man Rockets, while Jordan Hughes, Taylor Irvin, and Branden Satchwell all tallied two strong points apiece. The goalkeeper, Aaron Prochnau, blocked 22 shots in the win.

The Purple Haze's James Lytle tallied three substantial assists. Marc Fortin, Brendan Bagley, and Joshua Dees each finished with two very good points. Their goaltender, Matt Duncan, obstructed a colossal 37 intrusion attempts.
